I was sitting at home bored yesterday, avoiding Korean homework, and thought I would go get my nails done. I have never gotten my nails done professionally before and last week, a friend dragged me to get a pedicure. Which was a huge deal considering I hate getting my feet touched. It was at one of those cheap and cheerful Asian nail bars and surprisingly, I had a lot of fun. And now I can’t stop staring at my bright red, shiny nails.
I didn’t get my hands done at the time because my nails were in woeful condition (I’m the worst kind of biter - the skin around nails biter :( ) but this weekend they looked pretty good so I went in to try Shellac.
Firstly, how amazing is cuticle remover, and why didn’t I know this amazing liquid existed??? I hate cuticles and no matter how much I push them back, they always creep back up and look gross.
I can’t remember which Shellac colour I picked out but it was a burnt orange one. And I am so impressed! Shiny, shiny nails. Pretty nails! I loved it so much that on a whim last night, I ordered myself a UV lamp, 4 colours, a base and top coat, and that magical cuticle remover thing. I figure it will pay itself off in 3 applications.
Thing is, I have a fair collection of normal polishes and have been researching using normal polishes sandwiched between a Shellac base and top coat. There are mixed reviews.
Has anyone successfully done this? What are your tips?
